Hey! Thanks for stopping by.
RoosterTree ComicLit began as a way to publish stories by my friends that I though were cool, but outside the mainstream. It turns out that, as little as I care for fortune, fame & all that jazz, the benjamins & a bit of notoriety still play a part – not in comics creation, but in getting these works 'out there.' It's one thing to give birth to something unique & deserving of attention; getting it that attention is another thing entirely. That takes business skills I'm only starting to learn. I'm an artist, dammit – what can I say?
So, with limited funds at hand, I'm scaling back the original intent of RoosterTree ComicLit; for the time being, RTCL is a self-publishing entity with a mandate to bring my work & collaborations into the world.
And until I have enough notoriety that it works like currency in attracting the kind of attention I think my (extremely talented) friends deserve, the attempt to financially support their endeavours is premature.
If I & my partners here at RTCL do our jobs right, the day RoosterTree is able to expand into a multi-artist line of storytelling will come sooner than later.
When that day comes, there will be no shit here; there'll never be any humbug shenanigans put to paper in an effort to felch a money shot out of you. |
Already there are three minis, an anthology of friends' works available (online & in person) & a selection of 1" pins. Coming up we have a one-shot called Confessions of a Porn Clerk (created with Saint Äma), a planned quarterly series (written with Nick St. Amant), serialized graphic novels & more minis.
Fiction & non-fiction alike will be offered; a few laughs & the occasional thrill among the dreams/nightmares, what ifs & emotional baggage from the lightest & darkest
recesses of the mind.
In other words: this ain't kid's stuff.
Comics should be seen as the perfect combination of literature
& visual art; RoosterTree ComicLit may not always meet that standard, but the attempt is always
there to make that statement a truism.

Storytelling is as old as civilization. From cave paintings to the
basis of alphabet to the modern graphic novel, sequential artwork has guided humanity through all the
hills & valleys of technological & moral advancement.
To the hurricane of history I add my breath; it whispers
RoosterTree ComicLit. Will you join me as voyeur/patron or creator/collaborator?
